As an immigrant from Denmark, daughter of a refugee, a wife of a pastor, a mother, and a grandmother; as someone who is intimately familiar with sexual brokenness and identity struggles, I am fascinated by what makes people who they are. Join me in incessant pursuit of our common human ground and complex unity that can flourish when Jesus enters our individuality and our community.

My own story is that when He introduced Himself to me many decades ago, He rescued me from a muck & mire of undefined shame and chronic sense of aimlessness, well-disguised under an air of adventure and success. Much to my surprise and contrary to what I had heard of Him, my Creator gently washed away what had covered my original design. Rather than the clone I thought He wanted Christians to be, He helped my soul to unfurl her wings and begin to enjoy the unique colors and textures that make me me.

One night He asked me if I would exchange my life as a dancer for the unknown adventure of following Him. “If You will promise me that I can keep the freedom, the beauty, and the passion that I so love in flamenco; if I could become your ambassador by freely expressing Your unscarred version of those exact qualities, okay,” was my conditional answer. God and I shook hands that night, and though the sacrifice was costly at first, He has kept His promise with increasing intensity through the years.

Through all the noise of this world, He is calling to each of us to recognize the Voice woven into our DNA — a Voice that has been calling to us since the beginning of time.

Where are you?” - Genesis 3:9
